About Me

I was born in Southern India. My early schooling including medical school was in Bangalore, India. My parents always encouraged me to do my best and emphasized that education is key in life. I was fortunate to have parents who believed in my ability and supported me throughout my medical education.

I did my internship at the University of Missouri’s School of Medicine. During my internship, I was influenced to consider anesthesia as a specialty. The practice of taking care of patients with sophisticated monitoring and advanced technology drew my attention. I completed my residency and fellowship at Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During my residency, I got training in all aspects of anesthesia to take care of the patient’s needs. During my fellowship, I specialized in cardiac and OB anesthesia.

After finishing my anesthesia training, I moved to the Bay Area. I joined Oakland Kaiser in January 1984. Instead of joining a private practice, I believed Kaiser was the best choice for me. I could take care of my infant daughter and still practice my specialty. I am proud to be a part of the Kaiser Permanente organization which allows me to balance my job and my family life. I am blessed with a wonderful family, friends, and colleagues.

Over the years, our department of Anesthesia in Oakland has grown tremendously. We take care of patients in multiple facilities including Oakland, Richmond, Alameda, and Summit. I am fortunate to take part in a wonderful anesthesia department which works tirelessly to take care of patients. I perform all aspects of anesthesia to take care of our diverse patient population. As a Kaiser physician, I am honored to help you to get the best anesthesia care if ever necessary.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
