Welcome to My Home Page!

Since 1992, I have been privileged to be associated with Kaiser Permanente as a Child/Family Psychologist. I began my Kaiser Permanente career at the Hayward Kaiser (five years), then transferred to the Martinez Kaiser (nearly ten years), and since summer 2007, have been at the Antioch Kaiser, where I also serve as the Manager for the Department of Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Services.

I grew up in Buffalo, NY and developed an interest in the mental health field from my college years in New York City, when I worked at Bronx State Hospital. I then cultivated a special interest in serving the mental health needs of children, adolescents and families from graduate school onward. For a number of years, I worked as a school psychologist, primarily in high schools, and then transitioned to community mental health settings before joining Kaiser Permanente. In addition, I enjoyed teaching graduate classes in Psychology in both Oregon and New York.

Working with families is a great pleasure for me. I have an ever-growing respect for the importance of families in the lives of young people. At Kaiser Permanente, I often have the satisfaction of long-term contacts with young people and their families, meeting with them at important points in their development when challenges arise. The families I have worked with have taught me so much, and I am continually honored to be entrusted with assisting them to bring about desired changes.

My colleagues at Kaiser Permanente are a skilled, committed and caring group of professionals. I appreciate the ease of collaborating with other providers within Kaiser Permanente to create the best care plans for our child and adolescent patients. I also respect the emphasis within Kaiser Permanente on prevention - increasing skills and knowledge to avoid more serious problems, and empowerment - equipping young people and their parents/guardians to develop their own best problem-solving skills.

Having lived in New York, Tennessee, and Oregon in prior years, I am very happy to now be a Californian. When not at work, I enjoy time with my wife and young adult daughter and son, and exploring the many natural beauties of California.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
