My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a pediatric endocrinologist. As a pediatric endocrinologist, I care for children who have a wide range of hormonal disorders, including diabetes, hypothyroidism, adrenal insufficiency, and growth hormone deficiency. I enjoy being a pediatric endocrinologist. The most rewarding aspect of my job is that we have effective therapies for most endocrine disorders that allow most children to lead normal lives.

My Practice Philosophy

I feel that it is important to educate children and their families about their specific disorder and the various treatment options available. With this knowledge, I hope to empower children and their families to make educated decisions regarding their health care that is consistent with their own values and goals.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

Kaiser has been part of my life since birth. Over the years, I have seen Kaiser Permanente through my own eyes as a patient, as a volunteer, as a medical student, and now as a physician. From these different perspectives, I have gained an appreciation of the important role that Kaiser plays in providing health care and health education to the community.

Kaiser’s healthcare system enhances the care that I am able to provide to my patients. I have access to my patients’ previous medical records to assist me in their evaluation. I receive blood work results performed at any laboratory within the region to assist me in making timely management decisions. I can order prescriptions at any pharmacy within the region to assist me in implementing any necessary changes. Most importantly, I can easily communicate with my patients’ other healthcare providers within the region regarding their care.

Professional Interests & Affiliations

I am a member of the Lawson Wilkens Pediatric Endocrine Society. I have a specific interest in caring for children with hypoglycemic disorders.

On a Personal Note

I was born and raised in Sacramento, California. I attended elementary school, high school, and medical school here. I find it gratifying to return to the Sacramento area to serve the community from which I was raised.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
