Welcome to my home page!

About what I do:

I am an Intensivist. My practice is focused solely on the care of the critically ill. I am a member of the critical care team.

My “office” is the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). It is here that I spend my day, at the bedside, coordinating and collaborating with physician specialists and other members of the critical care team.

Our patients are the critically ill or injured. They come to us after severe trauma, major surgery, or failure of a major organ system.

In the ICU, we continuously monitor, assess and manage a wide array of lines, tubes, catheters, and assist devices. We treat primary conditions, and work to abate secondary sequelae. We reduce pain and provide encouragement on the path of recovery.

We are the critical care team: Intensivists, critical care nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, dieticians, social workers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and hospital clergy. We work together to provide the specialized care essential to the best outcomes in the critically ill or injured.

It is a wonderful field of medicine. It involves fortitude, patience, enthusiasm, and compassion. And one need not be squeamish. It is a field of great intellectual challenges and rewards, and profound emotional fulfillment. It is my passion.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
