Thanks for visiting my home page! I am excited to be a member of the Kaiser Oakland Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, and I look forward to getting to know you.

I am a New York transplant who is here to stay because I am addicted to the outdoors, not bagels. I came to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1995 after receiving my undergraduate degree in Community Health at Brown University in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union. I attended medical school at Stanford University. During my time at Stanford, I spent a year in El Salvador, which was one of the best things I did for my medical school education. I provided medical care, conducted healthcare research, and became fluent in Spanish. After completing internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of California, San Francisco in 2005, I attended a yearlong fellowship (or the 26th grade) in laparoscopy at Stanford University Medical School in 2006. I wanted to become more skilled in laparoscopy so I could offer my patients more minimally invasive surgical options. With this skill my patients will have less scarring, faster healing times, and less pain after surgery.

I chose the field of obstetrics and gynecology because I love the opportunity it gives me to establish ongoing relationships with women throughout their lifetime. I enjoy teaching patients about their bodies and addressing their health issues. Whether we’re discussing your menstrual cycle or I’m performing surgery, serving and providing care to you is an honor and privilege. I will strive to provide the best care and most up-to-date information possible so you can live life at your healthiest. While I enjoy all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology, my interests are diverse and include queer health, minimally invasive surgery, and international women’s health.

When I am not busy caring for my patients, you are likely to find me outdoors surfing, biking, snowboarding, backpacking, climbing, etc... I also love to travel and have worked and adventured in Latin America, Africa, and Asia, most recently Tibet. In addition, I enjoy spending time with friends taking advantage of the many cultural opportunities available to us in the Bay Area.

My Credentials

Medical school Stanford University, Stanford, CA
Residency UC San Francisco, San Francisco, CA
Fellowship Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford, CA
Board certification Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
