Welcome to my home page!
I have been fortunate to have spent most of my life in beautiful California. I grew up in Laguna Beach (before MTV discovered it) where I discovered the beauty of the Pacific Ocean. After college in Oakland, I attended medical school in Boston where I quickly learned that cold weather was not for everyone, particularly me. Though I appreciated the excellent medical education I acquired in Boston, I gratefully returned to the more temperate Bay Area for my Internal Medicine training.
From the start of my medical training, I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in Hematology/Oncology. I chose to head to the Lone Star State for my training at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, much to the shock of my family and friends. It was an enormous cultural adjustment for this California Girl. After training, I was on the faculty of the Breast Medical Oncology Department for 6 years. While I enjoyed the rigors of academic medicine, I missed the devotion to patient care that is so important to me. After nearly 10 years of humidity and 2-inch flying cockroaches, I felt it was time to return to the area I love most, the Bay Area. I now live in San Francisco with my chubby 25-pound cat, Jake. This enables me to enjoy the natural beauty and diversity of both sides of the Bay.
My experience with Kaiser Permanente dates back to my childhood as I was a patient in the system throughout that time. In fact, I had my tonsils removed at Kaiser Oakland as a teenager. I have always felt that Kaiser Permanente delivers high-quality, cutting-edge medical care with a focus on prevention. As a physician at Kaiser Permanente, I am able to choose the appropriate care for my patients without the restrictions commonly imposed by insurance companies. I am privileged to work with an outstanding group of physicians and nurses who strive to care for patients with compassion.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
