Dear Patient,
Thank you for choosing Kaiser Permanente to provide for your healthcare. I would be honored to be your child’s Pediatrician. We, at Gilroy, feel very strongly that your child should have his or her Pediatrician in order to develop a trusting relationship and to coordinate all of his or her healthcare needs. Your child’s health is very important to me and I hope you will take a proactive role in the health of your child. As you may realize, I am not always available. In that case, please feel free to see one of my partners, who I know and trust, and who will be happy to meet your healthcare needs. Your choice of me as your child’s personal physician will be entered into our computerized database, which will assist you when you call in to make an appointment with me. Your child’s personal physician is identified on the registration slip, and if you feel that it is incorrect please let me or my staff know so that we can update the information.
About Me
Although born in Hong Kong, I grew up in Hawaii and the majority of my childhood memories are of sun and surf. I then ventured to New Orleans, Louisiana where I received my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Tulane University. I also earned my medical degree at the Tulane University School of Medicine. I returned to Hawaii and completed my internship in internal medicine and pediatrics, and residency in pediatrics at the University of Hawaii, John A. Burns School of Medicine. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, I practiced in Hawaii and in Salinas. I am certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and am a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. When I am not practicing medicine, I enjoy running, hiking, movies, and tennis.
My Thoughts and Beliefs
I was exposed to the world of medicine early in my childhood when I watched my father practice traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture in his clinic. As I grew up, with the encouragement of my parents, teachers and mentors, I was able to hone my talents and interests in science and medicine. Medicine challenges my intellect and warms my heart.
During my medical training, I had an opportunity to experience different specialties. I realized what I enjoy most is practicing pediatrics, as I can make the greatest impact early in a person’s life. All the smiles and hugs I receive from the children help keep me looking forward to my day.
The one thing I enjoy most is knowing that I make a positive impact on people's lives every day. Every child I help is a rewarding experience. The most exciting development in my specialty has been the advances in immunizations. I cannot imagine the degree of suffering during the pre-immunization era.
Having been in private practice for several years before joining Kaiser, I realized that managing a business was not what I enjoyed. At Kaiser, I have the pleasure of working with a professional, caring staff, while concentrating on what I love to do most, being a doctor.
