Welcome! Thank you for visiting my website.

Endocrinology has made the most sense to me since medical school, and became a natural choice for me to specialize in. I see patients who are referred to me by their primary care providers for diseases that pertain to the endocrine glands and hormones. Some of the common disorders include the thyroid, pituitary, and adrenal glands. I also see patients with calcium disorders and osteoporosis.

Background

I was born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where English was my primary language. I am also fluent in Malay and Cantonese. I received my medical degree from the National University of Malaysia. I started my residency in Internal Medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans and transferred to the University of California, Davis. Then I completed my fellowship in endocrinology at University of California, Davis and joined Kaiser Permanente in 2006.

Philosophy of care

It is a privilege to be a Kaiser Permanente physician since Kaiser allows me to devote my time and focus on providing the best care to my patients. I believe that patients should have a good understanding of their disease condition so that they can take charge of their health. After diagnosing a condition, I hope to educate patients and guide them to make health decisions that are tailored to their own needs and lifestyle. This can be achieved if we work as partners and maintain good communication.

Recommendations

If you are being referred to our clinic, it would be helpful for you to know the reason for your visit. Please write down any items for discussion or questions you may have so that we can address them. I strongly encourage my patients to ask questions about their condition. I encourage my patients to be informed and educate themselves about their conditions through the use of technology. While I advocate the use of technology to improve quality of care, it is never a substitute for caring for and listening to my patients.

I always try my best to respect my patients by staying on time. Allow yourself extra time and arrive early as traffic, parking and registration delays can occur. If you are taking any medications on a regular basis that is not on our computer database, such as over-the-counter supplements, please bring them with you.

Your comments and suggestions are always welcome and I look forward to seeing you at your next appointment.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
