My Profession and Why I Chose It

I am a pediatric anesthesiologist. I am honored to be part of the surgical team taking care of the most precious part of our lives – our children. My job is to keep them comfortable and safe. It is very challenging and rewarding to contribute to human lives at the very beginning. I enjoy working with adults as well. Aren’t we all “big babies” and need special attention?

My Credentials

Medical school Minskij Medicinskij Institute, Minsk, Belarus
Residency University of South Florida School of Medicine, Tampa, FL
Fellowship Egleston Children's Hospital At Emory University, Atlanta, GA
Board certification Anesthesiology, American Board of Anesthesiology

My Practice Philosophy

I believe in honesty and hard work. It is the way I live and practice medicine. I usually spend a great amount of time with the patients and their parents. My duty is to explain what to expect from anesthesia, the benefits and the risks, and how I can improve the recovery. I am a mother myself. When I talk to parents, I imagine that my son is the one having the surgery and then pick the best anesthetic plan. Comfort and safety!

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

I recently joined the Kaiser Anesthesia Department from private practice. The main reason was to belong to a group where the patient care comes before reimbursement. I came from another country. My grandparents were physicians. We went to medical school because we wanted to help people. Kaiser Permanente provides me with the same environment. I am encouraged to be a patient advocate.

On a Personal Note…

I grew up in a family of doctors. My grandparents graduated from medical school in southern Russia in 1941. The very next day Russia was invaded by Germany and my grandparents had to go to war as military doctors. I have always been proud and wanted to be like them - brave, kind and giving. Later in medical school, I decided to become a pediatric anesthesiologist. It was my dream.

When I came to the USA, I had to take all the boards and go through training again. I pursued my dream a second time in my life. I am grateful for the opportunity I was given. I love running, skiing and practicing yoga. Recently, I have become a mother. It is a miracle to watch my son growing. Reading to him at night is my favorite time of the day.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
