My Qualifications

I received my medical degree from Universidad de Buenos Aires - Facultad de Ciencias Medicas in Argentina. I completed both my internship, residency, and fellowship with University of California, Davis in Sacramento. I am board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATION

Why I Joined Kaiser Permanente

I joined Kaiser Permanente in 1981 after I completed my residency in Internal Medicine. Kaiser Permanente allows me to practice medicine in such a way that I can provide appropriate and excellent medical care. When I feel that a certain test or treatment is necessary for one of my patients, I order it, and it gets done. Another advantage of working here is that when I need help from a specialist, I can pick up the phone and obtain their input instantly. We also have a sophisticated computer network system that allows me to access up-to-date medical information about my patients at any given time. Kaiser prides itself in having an outstanding integration between Health Plan and its doctors, which turns out to be the system by which others in the country compare themselves to. We are the goal standard.

Why I Chose Primary Care

Practicing primary care allows me to affect my patient's healthcare at a pivotal juncture. By doing this, I can prevent illnesses from progressing and/or developing complications. Because of my background, cultural sensitivity is one of my strengths.

Special Medical Interest

When Kaiser started their cholesterol clinic I was chosen to head the program. This allowed me to help prevent heart attacks in my patients. I encourage all of my patients to know their cholesterol

My Hobbies

Exercise is an important part of my life. I play racquetball at my health club 3-4 times per week. Social activities include wine tasting with my friends and sharing life's stories. A prominent feature of my acquaintances is that they all have a great sense of humor. Travelling is one of my passions as well, because it allows me to experience new cultures and meet new people.

My Family

I have been blessed with a wonderful wife who has given me three beautiful children. My wife has obtained her doctorate and is a science teacher at a local school. My oldest son, Marcos, is a master teacher of an exotic martial art called Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. My middle son, Eduardo, is working on a degree at Sac State University in Business Management, with concentrations in Finance and International Business (this will hopefully compensate for his father's shortcomings, as doctors are widely known to be handicapped in this subject). Finally, my daughter, Alyssa, has aspirations of following in her father's footsteps by becoming a doctor.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
