Welcome to my home page!

Thanks for visiting my page. This is one way for me to introduce myself to you and point you to some health care resources that I believe to be reliable. Please take some time to explore the links to the left. If you're interested in researching a particular topic, try searching our Health Encyclopedia.

About me

I decided when I was just five years old that I wanted to be a nurse and have never changed my mind or regretted that decision. I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 1979, more than 25 years now. The best part of working for Kaiser Permanente is the support and encouragement I receive to practice medicine to the best of my ability. I am encouraged to keeping on learning new things to better support my patients.

The best part of my practice is working with new families and helping them get a good start on parenthood. My practice is limited to mostly newborns and lactation issues. Breastfeeding is my specialty and I love watching new moms and their babies learn together and enjoy the breastfeeding relationship. My practice philosophy is that there are many ways to raise children and care for them. I like to help each family do what is the best for them.

When I’m not at work, I spend time birding, reading, enjoying my dogs, weight training, doing yoga, and I tending to more than 50 miniature roses that need lots of TLC! My husband is a baseball writer with MLB.com so we enjoy baseball together.

My educational background and board certification are as follows:

Professional Education: RN from Saint Francis Hospital, San Francisco
Nurse Practitioner Education: University of California, Davis
Credentials: Pediatric Nursing Certification Board
Credentials: International Board, Lactation Consultant

I’m a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates & Practitioners, International Lactation Consultants Association, and Kaiser Permanente's Area Lactation Associates.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
