Thank you for visiting my home page.
I hope you will find some useful information about me as well as about your care at Kaiser Permanente. I have included a number of links for common problems seen in the Emergency Department – please peruse those relevant to your situation.
About Me
After graduating from Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, and completing my internship, I spent two years in the Indian Health Service at Winslow, AZ, where I served as a General Medical Officer. This was an enlightening experience, which played a role in my choice of Emergency Medicine as a career, as I took care of a wide spectrum of diseases and medical problems (including delivering about 40 babies!) in a unique population. I have tried to translate that experience over the years to all of my patients.
In addition to working in the Emergency Department, I hold a leadership role as Chief of Quality for the Oakland Medical Center. In this role, I work to assure that you will receive the highest possible quality of care that can be delivered anywhere. I am proud to be part of a team that has earned the recognition of being the best by numerous external quality organizations (see Awards and Recognition link on the left).
In my spare time, I enjoy playing basketball, boating, fishing, and rooting for the Oakland Athletics. I volunteer as an umpire in little league, and tend a garden full of fresh, organic tomatoes, corn, green beans and zucchini.
It is my privilege to help you manage your situation, whatever it may be, in the Emergency Department – please let me know if I can help you in any way.
Live long and THRIVE!

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
