My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I chose pediatrics because it is a diverse and interesting field of medicine. As pediatricians we see all age groups from newborn to young adult which is both challenging and rewarding. It is especially rewarding to be a part of a newborn’s life that I have the honor to follow with their parents into adulthood.

My Practice Philosophy

My practice philosophy has evolved over time especially after having my own two children. At each visit, my goal is to help parents understand their children’s illnesses and how to manage them at home but more importantly how to prevent them. This is based on the most current recommended evidence based practices but also practical approaches. Having an open communication via e-mail or telephone, accessibility for office visits, and a family & physician team approach makes our goal to a happier, healthier child possible.

My Tenure With Kaiser Permanente

I chose to join Kaiser Permanente Northern California because the group emphasizes preventative health. With this in mind, the organization has made healthy living and lifestyle possible by having a high level of resources and expertise at my disposal to pass on to your children.

On a Personal Note. . .

Outside of the medical life, I enjoy spending time with my wife Lisa, and two children Kaia and Caelen. When time permits, I enjoy a full range of sports and activities from snowboarding, scuba diving, and martial arts to cooking and photography.

Be sure to visit the Kaiser Permanente Website for additional information regarding appointments, prescriptions, health education classes and other health-related topics. You can also click on my department link above to receive additional health information.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
