About Me
I have been in the Occupational Medicine Department at Kaiser Oakland since 2000. The practice of medicine, especially occupational medicine, is very much a team effort. I could not imagine practicing anywhere else because the team spirit, working together to provide the best health care possible, is tremendous here.
My training at the Mayo Clinic instilled in me the principle, as articulated by William J. Mayo, "The best interest of the patient is the only interest to be considered." I still strive to practice by that philosophy. Having an injury at work can be a stressful and frightening experience because one's career and livelihood depend on good health. At the same time, the workers' compensation system is complex and navigating through it can be confusing. As my patient, you can expect my full attention to your concerns and a comprehensive, cooperative effort from the entire clinic to work with you toward achieving your goal of restoration of health and a return to work.
Areas of special interest include chemical exposures, public health and preventive medicine. My outside interests and activities include chauffeur, homework helper, cooking, photography and camping.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
