About Me

Hi and thank you for checking out my website.

I grew up in New Hampshire (where this recent picture was taken). My dad was an old-time general practitioner. When I was little, he sometimes let me tag along. That’s probably where I got my interest in medicine. He obviously loved practicing medicine; he respected and cared greatly about his patients.

I am proud to work for Kaiser Permanente where we try to put both quality care and value first. I believe our system deploys its resources thoughtfully. We want to be the best health care option. Our technologists, clerical staff and radiologists care about your health.

All the radiologists in our department have added areas of expertise. I am proud to be part of such a qualified group of doctors. Some of my special interests in radiology include mammography (breast cancer detection), infertility imaging, urologic imaging, and contrast media.

My wife Tina is a pediatrician. We live in San Francisco and love exploring outdoors throughout the beautiful Bay Area. Our three children are grown.

My biggest interests outside of medicine are music and art. Here are a few of my watercolors:

I strongly support musical training and performance for children through the Bay Area’s nonprofit Junior Bach Festival Organization. Look for their concerts each March in Berkeley; the young performers will inspire you and remind you how talented the next generation truly is. They play only music of J.S. Bach.

I try to play the piano every day, both classical and popular. My teacher in Oakland, “Hurricane Sam” Rudin, is my blues/boogie/swing inspiration; he’s terrific.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
