My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a Senior Physical Therapist. This means I evaluate, help diagnose, treat musculoskeletal dysfunctions and prevent reoccurrences. I decided to do this because I wanted to be able to make a positive impact on people's lives. I also have a love for science and "figuring things out".

My Practice Philosophy

I value helping people help themselves. I tell many of my patients that I am going to train them how to be their own physical therapist. Of course, I am compassionate and let the patient communicate on their own. I also want to provide treatment that has been proven to work.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I've been a part of Kaiser Permanente since 2000. I've really enjoyed being part of such a hard-working, competent and caring team. I simply can't tell you how many times I've seen or been a part of Kaiser employees helping out other Kaiser employees.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

There are many reasons why I chose to work for Kaiser Permanente. Kaiser doesn't place restrictions on how many times I can treat a patient. If it only takes one visit, great, however, if it takes 2-3 months then it's OK as long as the patient is making progress towards predetermined goals. Kaiser also has some wonderful continuing education courses to help one better his or her skills; Kaiser is also a leader in technological advances (ie., computerized notes, readily available imaging studies, and a wide variety of specialty services), and finally, the opportunity to be able to work side by side with some of the brightest minds in medicine.

My Professional Interests and Affiliations

I am interested in manual and sports therapy. I have taken 2 long-term manual therapy (one Norwegian and another Australian) courses as well as many short-term courses since 2000.

On a Personal Note…

I am a Northern California native. I was a Kaiser member many years before I started working here. During these years I've always been impressed with the health care professions at Kaiser. On a personal level, I enjoy playing golf, riding my bike and reading articles to advance my skill and knowledge. I've had a few sporting injuries myself involving my neck, back and shoulder so I know what it's like to be a patient too.
