Welcome!

I'm sure you're probably visiting my home page because you want to know more about Maxillofacial Surgery at Kaiser Oakland, and in particular me (as well as see what I look like).

About Maxillofacial Surgery:
Maxillofacial Surgery is a recognized specialty encompassing the surgical treatment of diseases, injuries, deformities which involve the function and esthetic aspects of the head, face, mouth, teeth, gums, jaws and neck. Oakland is the regional center for Northern California for Maxillofacial Surgery. Extraction of teeth, treatment involving dental implants and/or other common type of dental procedures are not covered by Kaiser Oakland, nor are they performed at the Oakland Medical Center.

About Myself:
I'm New England born and raised, but ended up in California as a result of my surgical residency. I've been with Kaiser Oakland since 1992. I completed my residency program in 1990, was in private practice in Connecticut briefly before being persuaded to return to Kaiser and California. I am board certified in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and most recently re-certified, as is required now of most surgical specialties every ten years.

I particularly enjoy helping those with congenital problems, as this almost always results in a smile and a future made for the better. In addition, I also help to educate and mentor the Head and Neck Residents in the diagnosis and treatment of trauma here at the Oakland Medical Center.

Why Kaiser Oakland:
Where else can you work in such a non-competitive peer environment? The Oakland Medical Center serves as a regional center for many of the surgical specialties and there is a wealth of knowledge here. Interaction with Head and Neck Surgery, Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, Anesthesia, Genetics and many of the other specialties of medicine is always readily accessible. Colleagues are always willing to share their knowledge and help with their surgical expertise when asked.

In addition, the Maxillofacial Clinic, is made up of a unique group of individuals, utilizing a team concept for treatment, which in turn makes it a very enjoyable place to work.

I hope this web site was of some value, thanks for visiting!

Please feel free to contact me, or our clinic if you have any further questions.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
