About Me

I have enjoyed practicing at Kaiser Oakland for many years. Over time, I have taken on administrative roles for the Emergency Department and Medical Center, but I especially look forward to my clinical shifts. I find that my interactions with patients and their families remind me of our underlying mission: providing top quality, patient-oriented medical care and excellent service.

After recently benefiting from significant services in the Ophthalmology and Cardiac Surgery departments myself, I am especially thankful to be a member of a comprehensive health plan which provides world-class care. I am impressed with my physician colleagues and the other staff we have here at Kaiser Oakland. The frequent interactions between different departments allow us to keep up with developments in many fields and facilitate appropriate referrals for our patients.

I came to medicine and Oakland by a circuitous route. I was born in Burma and later studied in Singapore before coming to the United States. After completing a degree in dentistry at Howard University, I decided to pursue medicine. This education background has given me special skills that I can use in the ED. I find that my language skills and multicultural background come in handy as well.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
