Welcome to My Internet Home Page

Welcome Kaiser Permanente members and potential members of Kaiser Permanente. I am excited to join the Kaiser Permanente Manteca, Chemical Dependency Recovery Program (CDRP). Here at Kaiser Permanente Manteca CDRP I hope to be able to provide you with information, education, and support to be able to effectively cope with life's stressors as it relates to chemical dependency.

About Me

I remembered that my interests in counseling field and helping others started in high school. Helping at risk children in middle school, coaching them, and helping them to make better decisions were tasks that made my senior year rewarding. I attended Delta Community College in Stockton, CA and have a Certification in Alcohol and Drug Counseling from the University of the Pacific in Stockton. My credentials for counseling came from the California Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors. I have worked at San Joaquin County for a number of years in the capacity of addressing substance abuse issues. I also served at Stanislaus County in the capacity of a substance abuse counselor and a social worker. I joined Kaiser Permanente since 2003. Along the way I have been educated and trained in dual diagnosis treatment and have been certified by the State of California as an HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) Prevention Counselor.

During my time when I am not in the office I can usually be found with my son at a T-ball game, cooking, writing music or playing the guitar either by myself or with one of my bands.

My Philosophy of Care

The way I view substance abuse is that this is a treatable matter. With education, support, and development of coping strategies, one can raise the quality of one's life by making healthier choices and choose sobriety. As substance abuse progresses one's ability to make healthy choices becomes increasingly impaired to the extent that one may not think that they have a choice at all. There are many different paths to sobriety and "one shoe does not fit all". My goal will be to assist those in finding hope that change can and will happen with a little effort. I find that the multi-model approach works best in this field when the counselor is being open-minded on old and new treatment information so that we can better serve the population of substance abusing or chemically dependent people. There are two approaches that I have been trained in addition to conventional way and those are Motivational Interviewing techniques and the Transtheoretical Stages of Change Model.

If you are interested in contacting me you can reach me in Manteca at 209-858-7700 Monday through Friday.

Thank you for visiting my home page. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome and I look forward to seeing you.
