My Healthcare Practice

I practice Internal Medicine and care for adults who have non-surgical diseases. I am the primary care physician (“regular doc”) for my patients. I value the opportunity to know my patients over years and to make a difference in their health and wellbeing.

The science of medicine provides remarkable tools to diagnose and treat disease. It is rewarding to treat disease and ease suffering. It is much, much more satisfying to prevent disease. I am your partner in causing a present and future filled with health and vitality. It is my job to communicate healthful behaviors and practices which will optimize the length and quality of your life. Your job is to live fully and with passion.

I am interested in all aspects of medicine. I am active as a representative to the diabetes committee, the physician health and wellness committee, and the outpatient quality assurance committee.

Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

I have practiced in Kaiser Permanente since 1991. This is the finest; most innovative and brilliant organization in which to have a career devoted to the health of our community.

I began my career with Kaiser Permanente to be close to my wife who was already working as a doctor in the South Sacramento Center. I am proof that it is better to be lucky than to be smart. I now find myself in the most remarkable organization in healthcare. I am free to bring an entire team of specialists, surgeons, lab services, radiology services, mental health workers, pharmacists, physical therapists, etc to participate in your care…all with no requirement to get prior approval from an insurance company. The thousands of doctors in the northern California region are my colleagues, not my competitors. Together we are creating the model for the future of healthcare for the nation and the world. Through massive investment in the communication and technology infrastructure we are able to make systemic changes that ensure that as research uncovers information that makes a difference in your health, we will bring that care to you.

About Me

Both my father and my grandfather were doctors. Dycaico is a Filipino/Chinese name. My father immigrated to the United States after WWII to obtain residency training. He met my mother who was a nurse at Charity Hospital in New Orleans and never returned to the Philippines. I completed my undergraduate degree in biomechanical engineering at UCSD and completed medical school here at UCD. I met my wife when were medical students and the rest is history. We have 3 incredible children. I have the privilege to live and work in Davis.

An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
