I am pleased to offer my home page as a means to introduce myself and also to provide you with high-quality health information through useful handouts and helpful web links. My overall goal is to deliver quality care in a variety of clinical situations, allay some of the fear associated with your illness, treat your pain, and make you feel better now than you did before. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a part of your life. I wish you good health in the future.

About Me

I was born in London, England and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have lived in the Sacramento area since 1994 and am married with two wonderful children. I am dedicated to my family and their needs as well as an active participant in my community. I enjoy scuba diving, surfing, biking, hiking, running, swimming, and almost any aerobic sport.

My Qualifications

I received my undergraduate degree in biology at the University of California San Diego. I joined The Permanente Medical Group in 1996. My time with Kaiser Permanente, coupled with the privilege of taking care of people in need, has and continues to be one of my most rewarding life experiences. My hope is to function as an educator as well as a healer. I believe that in giving people a better understanding of their illness they gain empowerment. Helping reduce uncertainty enables people to better control their ailments and live more complete lives.

My Healthcare Practice

I have been an emergency medicine specialist since 1994 and have been with Kaiser Permanente full time since 1997. I chose emergency medicine because of its variety –it is never the same day twice. Dealing with people of all different ages coupled with a vast array of medical presentations has been both a challenge and an enjoyment.

I feel honored to be given the privilege of taking care of you and your family. I enjoy my role as an educator and hope that you feel empowered with the control that knowledge gives you over your illness. I hope that I have been able to allay some of the fears and frustration associated with not knowing what is going on. I approach everyday with the wide-eyed curiosity of a child. And attack every challenge with the wisdom I have gained as an adult. Finally, I hope that I have made you feel that you are a member of my family.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
