About Me

I am a native Sacramentan. After attending local schools, I continued my education at the University of California, Berkeley, where I received my Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree in June 1978. After graduation I enjoyed different modes of optometry, including teaching, practicing at a university health clinic, and working in both private and commercial practices. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 1980.

My Healthcare Practice

What I like best about practicing optometry is the opportunity it gives me to work one-to-one with patients and address their visual needs and concerns on a personal level. My goal is to treat patients just as I would want to be treated if I were the patient. At Kaiser Permanente, I appreciate being able to work closely with fellow colleagues and ophthalmologists.

In my leisure time I enjoy traveling, reading, playing the piano, and dabbling in sports like tennis and golf. I am married to a wonderful husband and have three great children.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
