My Biography
Welcome to Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center. Our Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Service is dedicated to providing comprehensive care to your child and your family in an open, honest, and caring way. Please use this web page to locate additional resources to assist you.
I grew up in the New York City area but moved to Los Angeles as a teenager. I completed medical school in San Francisco, and I have been up here ever since. I love the mixture of cultures and ideas in the Bay Area. I have been on staff with Kaiser since 1978.
I feel very fortunate to be able to work in a field that I love. I am constantly in admiration of the courage, resiliency, and fortitude of our Pediatric Hematology and Oncology families. I feel very privileged to be a part of their lives. I also consider myself lucky to be working with a wonderful team of doctors, nurses, social workers, and child-life specialists. We share a philosophy of empowerment for patients and families, through support and teaching. Our involvement with the Children’s Oncology Group gives us access to the finest and most current care. We welcome your input.
My wife and I have a teenaged son and a married daughter. I enjoy biking, hiking, swimming, and traveling.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
