My Subspecialty

I am a Board-certified physician specializing in Internal Medicine. This means that I am a primary care physician who is responsible for my patients' general medical needs. I would be more than happy to refer you ta a specialist for a condition which is outside the scope of my abilities. I chose Internal Medicine because it gives me the opportunity to talk to lots of different patients and because I am interested in the challenges of general medicine.

My Practice Philosophy

I am a strong proponent of proactive medicine. Adequate and timely screening for disease is necessary for identifying health problems which you may not be aware of. Disease control is the key to longevity and the cornerstone of a quality health care organization and adequate follow-up ( whether as a visit to the clinic or to the lab) is really critical for proper control. This means I like to screen a lot and if you have a serious condition I need to be in touch with you on a regular basis. I also agree that evidence-based medicine is crucial for providing quality information about the best available medicines and medical practices.

Why I Like Working for Kaiser Permanente

I have been a part of Kaiser Permanente since 2003. At Kaiser Permanente I can make the decisions I want regarding my patients' needs without any cumbersome pre-approval process. I also enjoy the availability of an enormous base of resources which helps ease many of the difficulties of providing quality care in a challenging health care environment.

Personal History

I am married and have three great children. I like to spend time with my family and , ocassionally, I get to play golf with some of my friends. I am a sports fan and I enjoy watching the San Francisco Giants baseball team play whenever I can (especially in October!). Prior to attending medical school I worked as a certified public accountant in San Francisco. Why the change? Who knows, but I enjoy what I do and I'm glad I'm a doctor. I have lived in Northern California for over thirteen years. It's a great place to live and my wife and I are certain we will be permanent residents here.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
