Welcome to My Home Page!
After being born in Oakland, I moved to Pittsburg while very young and did all of my K-12 schooling there. After finishing high school, I attended the University of California, Santa Barbara where I finished my undergraduate studies and then moved back up to northern California to attend Touro University - Mare Island for my graduate degrees. My clinical rotations while at Touro took me down to Bakersfield and Kern Medical Center where I learned trauma orthopedics first hand. I was able to see the sports medicine side of orthopedics back at Kaiser Permanente in Vallejo during an elective rotation and it was then that I decided that Kaiser Permanente was a great fit for me.
I came onboard in Orthopedics at Kaiser Permanente in August of 2007, and I work primarily out of our new Antioch Medical Center. I have a particular interest in sports medicine and trauma orthopedics, which we see a lot of in the very active east Contra Costa County. Kaiser Permanente Orthopedics subscribes to many of the same philosophies that I do such as in patient education, preventive medicine, and involving the patient and clinician to make decisions together regarding treatment regimes.
On a personal note, I am very active outside of Kaiser Permanente in softball, golf and winter sports. I am currently also serving in the Army as a 1st lieutenant. I come from a large family which is deeply rooted in public service both in medicine and law enforcement in the East County. I am married to a wonderful woman who is also in the medical profession, working in the field of Emergency Medicine. We enjoy trips up to our family cabins in the mountains, professional sporting events, and have recently enjoyed traveling through the western Caribbean, Central America and Italy.

An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
