My Qualifications

I completed the University of California, Los Angeles Course in Acupuncture for Physicians in the late 1990s. I joined the Permanente Medical Group in 1987.

My Healthcare Practice

At Kaiser Watt I treat several different kinds of patients. I see patients who are looking for help for alcohol and/or drug problems and I frequently help these patients accomplish detoxification from alcohol, opiates, and sedatives. I also see patients with chronic pain and other chronic symptoms who are getting poor results from habit forming medications such as Vicodin. I teach a class monthly called "the Pain Medication Education Class" at my office which is open to all Kaiser members. I have training and interest in acupuncture and guided imagery and integrate these techniques into my clinical activities. I am also interested in the entire spectrum of Mind-Body Medicine including Biofeedback, Guided Imagery, Mindfullness Based Stress Reduction, and Yoga.

My Outside Interests

I was born and raised on the East Coast and moved to California after finishing medical school to do my internship and residency. I have lived in Sacramento since 1986 and enjoy a busy married life with four children. My most important interests are aerobic exercise, music, photography, and spending time with my family.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
