My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am an occupational therapist. Occupational therapy is based on meaningful activities of daily living (self-care skills, education, work, or social interaction). This means that I work with patients to improve their range of motion, strength, coordination, and cognition to enable them to participate in daily activities despite impairments or limitations in physical or mental functioning.

I am a curious, creative, optimistic and analytical person. I chose this profession because it allows me the opportunity to use all my skills and training to help people live a fuller life. Outpatient Therapy supports people in being independent within their level of ability and it allows me to combine traditional evidenced based practice with complimentary and alternative approaches to healing.

My Practice Philosophy

When I work with a patient I see their limitless potential and work with them to set and achieve their goals. I draw on my traditional healthcare training as well as my complimentary and alternative medicine experience to help patients achieve their highest level of independence.

Credentials

I attended Eastern Michigan University and received a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Communication. Following that I pursued a second major in Occupational Therapy. Prior to being an occupational therapist I worked as a massage therapist for 10 years.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I’ve been a member of the Kaiser Permanente team since 2005. Since beginning my employment I have truly learned the meaning of excellent patient care provided by dedicated healthcare professionals. I appreciate the support and encouragement to continue my professional growth in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

I value the skills and expertise of my fellow therapists and colleagues. The focus of wellness and preventative medicine is in alignment with my personal philosophy of healthy living. Kaiser Permanente provides excellent service and care to its members. It also provides the support of educational opportunity, information technology, and cooperative teamwork to its employees.

Professional Affiliations

  • National Board Certified Occupational Therapist with Neuro Developmental Therapy Certification and Manual Edema Management training
  • Member of the American Occupational Therapy Association
  • Member of the Occupational Therapy Association of California

On a Personal Note

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I have one son and two delightful “grandygirls”. I enjoy staying healthy with regular workouts, fun runs, biking, and exploring life to the fullest.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
