About Myself and Kaiser Permanente

I have been practicing medicine since 1973 when I graduated from the University of Hong Kong. I came to the United States in 1998 with my family and finished my residency training in the University of California Davis Medical Center.

Joining Kaiser Permanente after my residency was a major step in my medical career. I really enjoy the working environment here and I am proud to be part of this excellent healthcare organization. I like it because I can practice medicine for the best interest of the patient, without having to worry about the business aspects of running a practice. I like the team approach, and I enjoy the friendship of my colleagues, nurses and medical assistants in my clinic. I also receive very good support from my subspecialty colleagues for consultations. The integrated multi-specialty arrangement and the readily available information systems allow us to work together to deliver the highest standard of care for our patients.

In addition to my clinical work, I serve on our Pharmacy Committee and the Diabetes Provider Group, which takes care of diabetic patients graduating from Pediatric to Adult Medicine clinics.

My work at Kaiser Permanente also gives me time to spend with my family, as they are the main reason I came over to the United States. I spend my spare time playing basketball with my son (he is a Kings' fan). I am learning to ride a bicycle (a bit too late at my age?). I speak both Mandarin and Cantonese.

My Credentials

Medical school University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, Hong Kong Sar Of China
Internship Sick Childrens Hospital, London, England
Internship UC Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, CA
Residency UC Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, CA
Board certification Internal Medicine, American Board of Internal Medicine

My philosophy in medical practice

I believe in preventive medicine and in the patient-doctor partnership. I put special emphasis in finding diseases in their earliest stages, like high blood pressure and high cholesterol, diabetes and even cancer. I hope to modify the risk factors for disease like smoking and obesity. I know that Kaiser Permanente shares my philosophy in placing special attention to chronic conditions management and prevention. In my home page you will find many links to useful resources for preventive medicine.

I am also a patient advocate and I like to involve you in the management of your healthcare issues. I believe that doctors and patients should work together like partners for the best outcome in our battle against illness.

Please contact me for any of your concerns or questions. You can call me by phone or drop me a note by fax. You are also welcome to contact me by clicking on the "E-mail your doctor" link above and following the e-mail guidelines. I am here to work with you as a teammate in ways that can best meet your healthcare needs.
