About Me

I grew up in California and did my undergraduate work at UC San Diego, majoring in physiology and neuroscience. I went to medical school in Virginia then completed my residency in Arizona. I returned to California and took a job with Kaiser Permanente where I have been practicing medicine since. I enjoy many outdoor activities including scuba diving, backpacking and sailing. I also enjoy reading, cooking and gardening, and travel as much as my schedule allows.

I am a member of the American Board of Emergency Physicians as well as a member of the AMA.

My Credentials

Residency University Medical Center, Tucson, AZ
Board certification Emergency Medicine, American Board of Emergency Medicine

My Healthcare Practice

I'm an Emergency Medicine Physician, which means I practice medicine only in the Emergency Department. I am trained to treat acute life and limb-threatening injuries and illnesses, in addition to treating the wide variety of every-day maladies that we see in the ER. I decided to practice this type of medicine because I enjoy treating many different types of problems, and I like to see people of all ages. I also enjoy the fast pace of the Emergency Department and like that everyday is different from the last.

My approach to medicine primarily involves listening to my patients. I approach my patients with compassion and make every attempt to address their concerns while they're in the ER. I make every attempt to keep my patient's best interests at the forefront of my practice and use evidence-based medicine to guide my clinical decisions.

Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

I've been practicing with Kaiser Permanente for 4 years now and believe that we give great care to our patients. I like being able to practice medicine the way I want to without anyone or any insurance companies telling me what I can and cannot do. Having easy access to consultants and colleagues the way we do at Kaiser Permanente makes my job easier and adds to my patient's care greatly. I also love knowing my patients will be taken care of when they leave my care in the ER, whether they are discharged home or hospitalized.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
