About Me

I have been a pediatrician at Kaiser Permanente since 1980. I worked part-time at Kaiser Permanente in Oakland when my two sons were young. In 1989, I came to work at Kaiser Permanente in Antioch (Delta Fair Medical Offices) as a pediatrician and adolescent doctor. I chose to work at Kaiser Permanente because I wanted to practice with a group of doctors with whom I could share and learn. I have been fortunate enough to work with my husband, Dr. Richard Boise, and develop together a regional program to counsel teens at the time of pregnancy testing. We wanted to be there for teens at a time of crisis. Kaiser Permanente has supported us and awarded the program recognition as an exceptional contribution. I feel that this is a great place to work. I have been able to deliver good medical care and pursue my professional interests.

I am bilingual. I speak fluent Spanish. I treasure diversity and I welcome all families in my office.

I went to Medical School in Chile, graduating in 1975. I did my pediatric residency at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center in New York City. After completing my training, I worked in Puerto Rico for the National Health Service Corps program. In 1980 I did a fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at the University of San Francisco Medical Center.

At home, I most enjoy being a mother. I take time to do ceramic sculpture, write poetry and cook for the family.

I enjoy working with children because they are spontaneous, affectionate, and learning new things all the time. I like seeing adolescents because they too are curious, exploring life, and finding their path. I consider it important to teach children peaceful conflict resolution, self-esteem, respect for others, kindness, and healthy living. Because I like to be a mother, I enjoy supporting parents and encouraging good parenting skills. My door is open to all families. I love going to work, because I love what I do!

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
