Please note that my office hours may be different from my department's hours of operation.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Genetics at U.C. Davis, and went on to obtain my Masters degree in genetic counseling at Sarah Lawrence College in New York. Following graduation, I joined the genetics department at the University of Colorado, coordinating regional travelling genetics clinics throughout Colorado, Wyoming, and parts of Nebraska and Montana. I then worked for the California Regional Center system, providing genetic counseling services for couples considering amniocentesis, and for families who had children with developmental disabilities.
I joined Kaiser Permanente in 1985 as a genetic counselor, and became manager of the Sacramento Genetics Department in 1996. It has been very exciting to take part in the growth of genetics, from a narrow specialty to one that impacts every branch of medicine, and truly gives families information that they can use to improve their health and well-being. Outside of work, I enjoy crafts, camping, and being chief cheerleader for a family of swimmers and soccer players.
