I am a practicing physician in the division of podiatric surgery in the department of orthopedics at the Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Medical Center in Northern California. I am also a member of the Northern California Technology Group of The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG).
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychobiology from the University California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1977. I went on to obtain my Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1984 and completed my residency in Podiatric Surgery at Kaiser Santa Clara and Vallejo in 1986.
Upon completion of my residency I was selected to participate in a traveling fellowship where I spent four months at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, Israel, sharing American foot surgical techniques with orthopedic surgeons from Israel.
I have authored several scientific articles published in medical journals and have written several chapters for medical textbooks. In the past I have lectured on the subjects of foot diseases and sports related foot and ankle injuries. I periodically serve as an exam commissioner for California State Board of Podiatric Medicine. Several times per year I travel to Washington DC to serve on an exam writing committee for the National Board of Podiatric Examiners.
My administrative/technical work for Kaiser Permanente has focused on three major areas – interactive clinical consulting (eConsult), electronic documentation of medical records - eChart and the creation of personal physician web pages for KP physicians in Northern California. I use all of these systems in my own practice.
I am married with two children. I enjoy living in the Santa Cruz area, where in my spare time I enjoy running (now with my 10" Beagle), cycling, and spending time at home working in my woodshop and garden.
