- This is a good time to review the surgery information and make sure that you know where you need to go on the day of surgery. You MUST have a responsible adult to drive you home or ride in a taxi with you after receiving anesthesia. You will also need someone to help you for the first 8 hours after leaving the hospital. Be sure to arrange for transportation and care ahead of time.
