- Establishing the first full-term pregnancy in Northern California after induction of ovulation using GNRH infusion by pulsatile portable pump (1986-87)
- Introducing the use of human menopausal gonadotrophin (hMG) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) ovulation induction protocols to the Sacramento area Kaiser Hospital system
- I have served as a consultant for WEAVE (Women Escaping a Violent Environment) and participate in ongoing efforts to coordinate local rape crisis care and “safe houses.” Prevention of domestic violence is a large issue with me.
- With a martial arts background, I am involved with the master instructors of the nonprofit organization "NEVER A VICTIM." NEVER A VICTIM is a program that teaches women and children how to protect themselves from violent attacks and how to avoid confrontations.
- I am a member of the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; and have been a Little League coach, a wrestling coach, assisted in numerous soccer games, swim meets, escorted my children to school dances and other school activities, sponsored charity golf tournaments ("Golf 'Fore' Kids"), and have taught my older children to drive.
- I have been a professional marine biologist, am a master SCUBA diver, am trained in wrestling, judo, and karate, and have driven Formula 1 race cars.
