"Autism and Your Child: Starting the Course" is a program for parents and family members of children ages birth through 18 years with a recent diagnosis or pending assessment of Autism, Asperger's Disorder or Pervasive Developmental Disorder, not otherwise specified (PDD, NOS). The topics include: What are the Autism Spectrum Disorders; How ASD impacts social communication, social relations and adaptive level of functioning; The Kaiser Continuum of Care; Navigating the Systems of Care; Next Steps for parents; and Online and Community resources.
"Autism and Your Child: Charting the Course" is designed for Kaiser member families with a child recently diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD): autism, Asperger’s disorder, or PDD-NOS. The goal of the Northern California ASD Health Education program is to support your family by providing information and educational tools that will help promote your child’s learning and development. The topics to be covered in this series of 4 classes include: understanding the autism spectrum, parenting from an ASD perspective, accessing community resources, and hands on intervention strategies to try with your child. Kaiser members are welcome to attend any class at any location. These classes are offered to families based on their child’s age.
ASDED: Parents of young children (ages 2 to 6 years) recently diagnosed with autism, pervasive developmental disorder-not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS), or Asperger’s Syndrome.
ASDEC: "Helping Your Child with Autism Communicate and Interact": Parents of young children (ages 1-5) recently diagnosed with or at risk for autism, pervasive developmental disorder-not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS), or Asperger's Syndrome.
"Welcome Parents - ASD Support Groups" is a support group for families with children on the spectrum. Class gives updates on latest research, books, resources, and special need parent workshops in the community, opportunity for parents to share concerns, give and receive support. Topics discussed include social skill development, behavioral strategies, sibling issues, stress management, the grief process, communication in the family, and much more.
