Pregnancy is an exciting and sometimes overwhelming time for you and your family. We hope to make your experience the best it can be. Your care will be provided by a team of many skilled individuals including physicians, certified nurse-midwives, registered nurses and personnel from the laboratory, Anesthesia Department, and Ultrasound Department.

During your prenatal care, you will have approximately monthly visits with either your physician, nurse practitioner or All patients have an ultrasound at the first clinician visit and an additional formal ultrasound in the 4th or 5th month by the Radiology department.

Most of your questions can be answered at your regular visits, but there may be times when you need additional information. There are many resources for you, including the Healthy Beginnings Newsletters, the Health Encyclopedia, and the many links found on this webpage or at your provider’s homepage. We also encourage you to take advantage of the many classes available through the Healthy Living Website

In the event of an urgent matter, you can call the Call Center at 650-299-2015. Once you pass your 5th month (20 weeks), you may call Labor and Delivery after-hours at 650-299-3200.

During your Labor and Delivery experience, we provide an in-hospital Ob/Gyn physician 24 hours a day. Take the Virtual Tour of our Redwood City Labor and Delivery Department. There is also an in-hospital Pediatrician and Anesthesia staff. Nurse midwives are present throughout the night and most of the day to participate in your hospital care and delivery of low-risk patients. Because of our in-hospital call schedule, we cannot guarantee which provider will be present for your delivery. This teamwork between the in–hospital physicians and midwives allows us to respond immediately to your needs, creates better patient safety and helps us maintain one of the lowest Cesarean section rates in the region.
