Orthopedics is the care of bones, joints, muscles and tendons. We specialize in general orthopedics, spine care, sports medicine, and hand care. We take care of traumatic injuries and sports injuries. We also treat arthritis and other wear and tear due to aging. Some people are helped with Physical Therapy or surgery. Some people need a cast or injections as part of their treatment. You may need an X-ray to determine which care is best for you.

Shoulder group
This group visit is for people with Shoulder Impingement Syndrome. Your doctor feels you have a malfunction of the shoulder joint. He referred you to this group visit for educational purposes. We will teach you how the shoulder is supposed to work, how your shoulder is not working right, and how this leads to what you are experiencing. You will also learn how to keep your shoulder healthy and prevent additional problems. There will not be a physical exam. You will not get an injection. There will be time at the end to ask questions in a comfortable, informal setting. If you have arthritis, a new shoulder injury or a frozen shoulder you do not need to attend.
After coming, you will become familiar with:
- Home rehabilitation treatments and surgical options
- Common medications used for treatment
- Exercises and stretches to do at home
- What an x-ray can show about your shoulder
- The inner workings of the shoulder
We have designed this 2½-hour group visit to give you all of the information you need to get better. You will see drawings of the inner workings of the shoulder during a slide presentation. We will also give you instructions and an exercise band for use at home. The majority of people who come are able to resolve their shoulder problem on their own. A few people can benefit from seeing one of our doctors for follow-up. After attending, you can contact us directly for a follow-up appointment if needed without returning to your primary doctor.
This group meets from 3:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. once a month. Your Orthopedist will confirm the date and location when he refers you to this visit. The co-pay for group visits is 1/2 of your normal co-pay.
Carpal Tunnel group
The purpose of our Carpal Tunnel group is to provide information to those who have been referred to the Orthopedic Department with a diagnosis of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. You will gain the information needed to be able to decide what treatment options are right for you and consequently choose either to continue with medical management of your symptoms, or to meet with a surgeon to discuss the surgical release option. You will be able to sign up to meet with the surgeon during this group, if that is your choice.
This 2-hour session reviews the brief anatomy and causes of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Preventive as well therapeutic measures will be discussed. The class is an interactive and stimulating one held in a very comfortable and relaxing environment where there is plenty of time given to answering any pertinent questions you might have always wanted to ask a specialist but never had the opportunity. The last 20 minutes is spent showing a video that summarizes all that has been discussed and more.
This group usually meets once a month from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Your Orthopedist will confirm the date and location when he refers you to this visit. The co-pay for group visits is 1/2 of your normal co-pay.
