Everything you want to know about:

Bunion group

The purpose of the Bunion group is to provide information to those who have been referred to the Podiatry Department with a diagnosis of bunion. You will gain the information you need to be able to discuss your treatment options with your Podiatrist. This one hour class reviews the most common causes of bunions, and defines just what a bunion is. You will learn which treatments are available, including proper fitting of shoes, use of bunion pads, and occasional medications. The option of surgery is discussed as well as post-operative care and recovery.

The group will end with an opportunity to make an appointment with a Podiatrist. This class is a great opportunity to ask questions of a specialist in a comfortable environment, allowing for the best care possible for your feet. A physical exam is not a part of this visit.

This group usually meets from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on the 4th Monday of each month on the 3rd floor of the Medical Office Building. See posted signs for room number. Your Doctor will confirm the date for this visit when he makes the referral. The co-pay for group visits is 1/2 of your normal co-pay.

Heel Pain group

The purpose of the Heel Pain Class is to provide information about all aspects of Heel Pain Syndrome/Plantar Fasciitis to those patients who have been referred to the Podiatry Department with this diagnosis. This class has been designed as an important first step in the treatment process for those patients referred from Primary Care. The one hour class reviews in every day terms what the major causes of Heel Pain Syndrome are and how they relate to foot structure and function. You will learn what treatment options are available and why some are more successful than others.

At the end of the class you should be comfortable with the complete initial treatment regimen, including shoe/orthotic adjustments, physical therapy modalities, proper activity restrictions and medication use. A second hour is set aside for questions and for those patients who desire a corticosteroid injection. This class is a great opportunity to learn about this problem in detail, ask questions of a specialist in a comfortable environment, and listen to the expereinces of other patients with a similar diagnosis.

This group usually meets from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of each month on the 3rd floor of the Medical Office Building. See posted signs for room number. Your doctor will confirm the date when he refers you to this visit. The co-pay for group visits is 1/2 of your normal co-pay.
