Eating too much Fat can cause rapid weight gain, which can make blood sugar harder to control. Limit breaded and fried foods.

In general, 1 serving of Fat is:]

1 teaspoon of butter, margarine or vegetable oil
1 tablespoon of regular salad dressing or cream cheese
1/8 cup nuts

  • Avocado: 2 Tbsp
  • Cream cheese: 1 Tbsp
  • Cream, half and half: 2 Tbsp
  • Mayonnaise: 1 tsp
  • Nuts: almonds, cashews - 6 nuts; mixed (50%) peanuts - 6 nuts; peanuts - 10 nuts; pecans - 4 halves; walnuts, English - 4 halves

Olives, ripe (black): 8 large
Oil: 1 tsp
Salad dressing: 1 Tbsp
Seeds: pumpkin, sunflower: 1 Tbsp
Sesame seeds: 1 Tbsp
Sour cream: 2 Tbsp
Tahini or sesame paste: 2 tsp
