Pediatric Weight Management Classes Flyer
Nutrition to Thrive
Age: Families with toddlers through teenagers.
Weight management class taught by a pediatric registered dietitian. Topics include: Increasing activity and incorporating lower sugar, lower fat, and higher fiber into meals and snacks. Your family will set specific goals around these topics, which will be followed up by your pediatrician.
Pediatric Conference Room - 1st floor, Sleepy Hollow Building, Hayward Medical Center. English: Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, 4:00-5:00 p.m. Spanish: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, 11:30 a.m-12:30 p.m. No registration necessary!

Real Science: Prevention of Childhood Overweight
Age: All ages and families. Increase your nutritional IQ! Learn about nutritional concepts; red flags for nutritional concerns in children, teens and adults; body composition and body fat; and Body Positive. The program is taught by an experienced nutritionist and is open to all family members, including siblings, grandparents, and baby-sitters. No fee. Weekly session for 3 weeks. Start dates: May 22, July 10 10:00-12:00 Noon. English and Spanish sessions. Hayward/ Sleepy Hollow Building.

Kids in Dynamic Shape/Niños en Forma Excelente (Español)
Age: 5 to 12 years with parent(s). Child’s BMI 85th percentile and above.
#Flushleft Change is a family affair! Learn skills to motivate behavior change, to encourage your child to be healthy and get in shape. Learn as a family how to shop for and cook healthy meals, have fun while being active, and manage related challenges. Talk about building self-esteem. An interactive class taught by a multi-disciplinary team.
Dates (2010): Call for dates. Plan for classes to start in February, and October. 5:45 – 7:15 p.m.

Nourished Family Program
Age: 5 to 17 year olds with their parent(s)and immediate family.
Our new family-centered program begins January 2010! You’ll focus on building lifelong healthy habits and making changes together as a family. Topics include healthy eating; fitness; understanding the roles that teens, children, and parents have in building healthy habits and sticking with these habits through challenging times; cooking skills & tips; motivating the family; and medical information related to weight. Families meet once a month. We encourage you to join us for five evenings; however, you may enroll for the class dates that fit your needs. Union City Medical Center.
