Thermage

Thermage is an exciting new radiofrequency technique that is applied to the face for skin tightening and wrinkle reduction. This procedure is performed in the office and takes a few hours with little discomfort and no down time. Radiofrequency heat is applied with a handpiece to the deeper layer of the skin, while the outer layer is cooled. As a result, skin is tightened without causing peeling or oozing, since the superficial skin is left intact. Maximum effects are seen several months after the treatment. The results may vary from person to person. Upon initial consultation with your physician you will be evaluated to see if your are a candidate for the procedure. Patients who are pregnant or have metal implants in their body (pacemakers, metal plates, etc.) are not candidates for this treatment. Patients should avoid sun exposure for one week following treatment. Most patients have minimal recovery time from this procedure, and often return to work the next day. Patients undergoing more aggressive treatment are counselled about the risk of swelling and redness.
