Welcome to My Home Page!

Providing healthcare today is a team effort that requires active participation from both the patient and health team members. That’s why I introduce myself to patients by saying, “Hello, I’m Jenny, the nurse who will be working with you today,” versus “…the nurse who will take care of you today.”. The first approach conveys my expectation from the patient to participate in his/her care that day and not just sit passively, waiting for things to happen to them.

I have not always been a nurse, but no other job has proved as satisfying. I have worked as a nurse for nearly 14 years starting in the Medical-Surgical floor and moving to the Critical Care Unit for five years before joining the chemotherapy/infusion clinic in 2000. I feel called to serve in this clinic. I have a heart for working with cancer patients. In my time here I have met some extraordinary people whose spirit, tenacity and resilience in fighting a pitiless disease both inspire and humble me. They have taught me much about living a meaningful life.

My colleagues in the Oncology department impress me daily as they provide healthcare with competence and compassion. Their example pushes me to work harder to be a better oncology nurse.
