I entered the optical profession directly out of high school. I started as an apprentice optician at a large optical laboratory in Hayward. After having been a journeyman for a few years, a partner and I opened our own business doing bench work for large labs and various private optometrists. We later sold the lab and I started at the Kaiser Optical Lab in 1990.
After twelve years there, I passed the certification tests for the American Board of Opticianry and National Contact Lens Examiners and transferred to the Union City Kaiser Optical Sales.
In my spare time, I bicycle and take walks with Susan, my wife of many years. I also enjoy history, wood working, automobiles, and helping others.
