Nuclear Medicine Lung Scan - English

Nuclear Medicine

LUNG SCAN

A lung scan is a very helpful diagnostic tool used to evaluate the lungs for various conditions. It is a two-part study.

The first part of the procedure involves your breathing through an aerovent machine that delivers the radioactive isotope to the lungs. After 15 minutes, you will be placed in front of a camera for the images.

The second part of the procedure requires an injection with a radioactive isotope. You will then be scanned again. The examination will take 1 hour. The isotope will be eliminated through your body waste and will not be noticeable.

Please feel free to ask questions at any time during your visit to Nuclear Medicine. Your physician will receive a report within 5 to 10 days.
