A) Teen Crisis Program
The Teen Crisis Program is a four week program providing both evaluation and treatment of teens from the ages of 13-18 years and their parents. This group is led by a co-therapy team who assesses and triages teens for treatment. The team coordinates and recommends the appropriate evaluation and treatment. The group is drop-in with ongoing access. The team utilizes developed protocols for their assessment.
B) Intensive Outpatient Program (I.O.P.)
The Case manager provides clinical coordination and liaison for children and teens hospitalized in a psychiatric unit. The Case Manager is involved in clinical review, treatment team planning, consultation and recommendations for outpatient care, and on-site visits to our contract hospitals. The Case Manager is available to parents to discuss their concerns or treatment needs.
A Post-Hospitalization group for parents and teens was developed to meet the clinical needs of the adolescent population psychiatrically hospitalized. It provides services to a high risk teen population. These include the following:
- Transitions teens from inpatient to outpatient treatment
- Stabilization and monitoring their clinical needs
- Evaluation for treatment within our program, level of motivation and treat ability within our program
- Coordination of treatment for outpatient services
- Transitional group for those clients in private therapy or establishing this treatment
- Coordinate medication evaluation and follow-up
- Weekly support groups for parents
- Coordination with parents
Referrals are made to the Post-Hospitalization group as a component of post-hospital treatment and I.O.P. Services. The group is ongoing with weekly access. Treatment is provided through the group with adjunct individual and family therapy, medication management and case management.
C) Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Program
The ADHD Program is comprised of an orientation, educational and support groups for parents, assessment, consultation and treatment. Treatment is offered for children, teens and their families. Medication evaluation and consultation is provided by the child psychiatrists. Medication may be managed in our program or referred back to your child’s primary care provider.
Assessments for ADHD are provided for children and teens, as well as appropriate treatment. This, often, includes individual and family treatment with medication evaluation and management. A client may be referred to a peer group as well or a social skills group for ADHD children. Parents may be referred to attend a support group, parenting classes for handling defiance and school problems.
Consultation is provided by the program to other professionals within the Department of Psychiatry, medical departments and related professionals in the community.
