National Cancer Institute(NCI) also has an excellent web site for patient information. Be prepared, it can be a bit over whelming.

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.
The American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO) is the largest professional society for Radiation Oncologists. It has some information that is more specific to Radiation Therapy.
The Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) is a multi-institutional cooperative organization, of which the principal objectives include:
A national cancer study research group funded by NCI headquartered in Philadelphia with almost 30 years of experience in running clinical trials;
Comprised of 250 of the major research institutions nationally and in Canada;
Currently have 40+ active studies that involve radiation therapy either alone or in conjunction with surgery and/or chemotherapeutic drugs;
Interested in quality of life issues and their effects on the cancer patient.
