Excision of facial skin cancer

1. Keep dressing intact and dry for three days. The dressing is clean, you may leave it alone until the postoperative appointment. If the dressing is removed, apply antibiotic ointment once a day.

2. You may get the wound wet after three days. Avoid vigorous water pressure or cleaning.

3. If you have a special skin graft dressing, keep it dry. Do not disturb until the postoperative appointment with the doctor.

4. Call your doctor if the wound pain increases, and if persistent bleeding or fever develops.

5. You should have received a postoperative appointment with your doctor when leaving the recovery room for this procedure. If not, call the head and neck clinic at 510-675-4241.
