Essential tremor is a very common movement disorder. Many people are concerned that a tremor indicates Parkinson's Disease, but the clinical characteristics of Essential Tremor are different. Essential Tremor cause a tremor with use or with holding a posture, the classic tremor of Parkinson's is at rest.

This is a treatable condition. Many people decide they do not wish to take medications for the condition once they understand it better. However for more severe cases, there are several effective medications, and when the condition is very severe, surgical intervention is also very effective.
