What is Maternal-Fetal Medicine?

The specialty of maternal-fetal medicine focuses on women with high risk pregnancies and babies who are born needing highly specialized care.Some women and their babies, due to age, medical condition, or history, are at a higher risk of complications. The board certified Perinatologist is experienced in helping pregnant women avoid risks associated with a wide range of diseases or conditions, such as:

• Diabetes
• Hypertension
• Heart disease
• Asthma
• Lupus
• Epilepsy
• Multiple Pregnancy
• Problems with a previous pregnancy
• Pulmonary or lung diseases
• Kidney disease
• RH negative blood
• HIV
