Surgery Consultation Visit

When you and your provider decide to proceed with surgery,a request is submitted to the surgery scheduler. The scheduler books the case in the operating room and calls you with the date and time of your surgery and an appointment for a pre-operative visit with your provider. Usually the surgery is scheduled within 6-12 weeks. If you want to change your surgery date, please call 510 784 4495.

  • SURGERY CONSULTATION VISIT

When you and your provider decide to proceed with surgery, please make sure you discuss the following.

  1. Options and Alternatives.
  2. Medications and herbal supplements which may need to be discontinued or adjusted prior to surgery. For example aspirin, birth control pills, coumadin, diabetes medications, blood pressure medicationss, thyroid and heart medications
  3. Blood Transfusion Options
  4. Information on procedures.

  • PRE-OPERATIVE VISIT

This visit includes a physical exam, obtaining a consent for the procedure, pre-operative instructions, request for blood tests, urine tests EKG and chest X ray if needed. Make sure all your concerns are addressed. Information on blood transfusion options, medications and herbal supplements will be discussed.

  • POST-OPERATIVE VISIT

Post-operative visit is usually scheduled on your day of discharge from the hospital. Appointment usually is in about 4-6 weeks from surgery.

You will recieve a physical examination, discuss pathology reports if applicable, and discuss work restrictions or limitations.
